Located in the centre of London’s West End. Verde SW1 is spread over 10 office floors. It was developed to the highest environmental and sustainability standards and our Design Team detailed 2 areas of this key London development.
The first was a 12-storey core stair with a steel carcass consisting of flat bar stringers with folded treads and an infill balustrade pre-welded to the internal stringers. The unique feature to this staircase was that it was situated in a triangular shaped concrete core. The stair was broken down into three welded sections in plan per storey. The balustrade infill bars were machined down to form a lap joint with the next panel of balustrade meaning that this stair had to be drawn, fabricated & installed with mm precision.
We worked alongside the installation team to provide a centre of gravity & lifting points/details on the stair. This ensured the stairs could be lifted & lowered safely into the core whilst also minimising the visual impact any lifting points may have.
The second area on this project were some large external vehicle gates that unlike most vehicle areas were made to the same high spec that has been carried on throughout this modern London skyscraper. They were made entirely out of stainless steel with a box section frame and flat bar infills set at an angle to create a louvre style effect. The gates were then polish finished to create a modern & crisp vehicle entrance. We also provided details for the ancillary posts with remotely controlled magnetised faces to lock the gate in an open position when required.
